Done while on exchange in London, England, this tape dispenser was developed as a product to be cast in iron in a single piece using the sand casting method.

It is designed with proper draft angles, appropriate weight, and standardized dimensions to accommodate a 3" tape roll. One side of the piece is sanded to create a smooth/rough contrast and form a cutting edge for the tape. Below are renderings of the final design.
An accurate technical drawing was made in consultation with craftsmen at a foundry in East London, as well as an MDF pattern sanded and sealed to be made useable in the sand casting process itself. Producing this piece would be as simple as supplying the pattern and drawings to a foundry.
Previous designs included a series of tape dispensers to accommodate Japanese Washi Tape rolls as well.
