Created while on exchange in London, England, and inspired by a period of material exploration using 0.7mm cold rolled steel, this project is a trivet, otherwise known as a hot plate or a pot rest, that is customizable, rearrangeable, and as much a joy to look at as it is to use.
The base is made of a type of wood called London Plane, native to the part of England I was in. The pieces themselves are hand bent sheet steel, and though they are painted for the prototype, a production run would see them enamelled for its heat resistant properties.
